FAQ

What people ask me most

If your question isn't here, write to me directly. I'd rather over-answer than leave you with an unresolved doubt before heading into the mountains.

About the guide and the service
I'm in official training as a Wanderleiter — a certified hiking guide according to Swiss standards. I can already operate legally as a guide on tours up to T3 in summer and WT2 in winter. I say this transparently because I believe honesty is the basis of trust.
Safety always comes first. If the weather poses a real risk, I cancel the activity without hesitation. In that case you can choose between rescheduling at no extra cost or a full refund. If the weather is grey but safe, we go — the mountains are beautiful with clouds too.
Maximum 10 people per departure. I'm not a mass-tour operator — I prefer groups where I can get to know each person and adapt the pace to the real group, not to a statistical average.
Yes, absolutely. If you're a group of friends, family or colleagues, you can book the departure exclusively for yourselves. Write to me and we'll organise the details.
Safety and insurance
I strongly recommend having personal accident insurance and, if possible, a Rega card (Swiss Air Rescue). A mountain rescue can cost between CHF 1,000 and CHF 10,000. It's not mandatory to take part, but it would be irresponsible of me not to warn you.
I have mountain first-aid training and always carry a full first-aid kit. In case of injury, we give first aid, assess the severity and contact the emergency services if necessary. Nobody is ever left alone in the mountains.
About the tours and level
It depends on the tour. The Creux du Van (T2) is perfect for beginners with basic good fitness. The other two tours (T3) require a bit more experience and fitness. Tell me about your situation and I'll honestly tell you which tour is right for you.
They are the difficulty grades of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC). T1 is a stroll on flat paths. T2 is hiking with elevation gain and uneven but well-marked terrain. T3 adds exposed terrain and trails that aren't always visible. WT2 is the winter equivalent with snow.
Yes, under the right conditions. In winter the landscape is completely different — and spectacular. With a lot of snow, hiking crampons may be needed. Check availability and conditions before booking. More details in the Creux du Van guide.
It depends on age, fitness and the tour. Under-18s must always be accompanied by an adult. For T3 tours I don't recommend children under 12–14. Tell me the specific case and we'll assess it together.
Bookings, prices and logistics
The price includes the full guide in Spanish throughout the activity. Kandersteg 2 days also includes a night in the hut, dinner and breakfast. Not included: transport to the starting point and personal insurance.
All tours are accessible by Swiss public transport (SBB/CFF). When I confirm the booking I send you detailed instructions — train, PostBus, meeting time and exact point.
Yes. More than 14 days in advance, full refund. Between 7 and 14 days, 75%. Between 3 and 6 days, 50%. Less than 48 hours, no refund. See the full policy in the T&C.
